Any advice for a New Yorker girl going to university in Belfast?

queens university! are the norn irish friendly to americans?Any advice for a New Yorker girl going to university in Belfast?
You will have the time of your Life. My husband is a New Yorker and he loves living in Belfast!!! He also says that instead of going to College in Buffalo he would have much rather have went to Queens.

I went to Queens myself and I can tell you that I loved every minute of it. You won't find too many other Americans in Belfast but the best place to track them down (if you are feeling Homesick) is at the American Embassy in Belfast. I know at Thanksgiving etc as well as Election day they have a small group who usually have parties in the Students Union etc.

You will find the Northern Irish really do like Americans and really do like New Yorkers. I don't know if you know many people over here and I would suggest joining as many clubs and societies as you can as you will meet tons of people. During freshers week all the clubs/sporting teams/socieites have a day where they set up stalls and try and get you to join. If you are anyway good at sports try joining a sports team as you might get a bit of travel in around the country.

Queens is in a great area with good bars and resturants and the Students Union always puts on tons of events so you won't be starved for a social life.

Make sure you go to the Hallowe'en Ball at the Student Union...it was always my faveorite event.

Have fun!

Any advice for a New Yorker girl going to university in Belfast?
I live in Belfast, not far from Queens Uni, Belfast has a reputation for making visitors welcome! Now Belfast is nothing like new york, It is a much smaller city but has everything you need! I created my own website on it, visit http://www.visitingbelfast.com/ to find out more information on it. You can also visit the official Belfast website http://www.gotobelfast.com/ or you can call the Belfast welcome centre on (028) 90 246609, You can also email me if you want any more info! I know you will like it here! Hope this helped!
Yes we are very nice and also very helpful as all the other people have said have a great time and stay on the golden mile Great Victoria Street and you will not go far wrong for social life lots of bars eating places etc also one thing to bear in mind a soda is a type of bread not a soft drink.

Hope you enjoy your stay.

p.s. The photo of me is when I went to NYC with my son great city.
