I got mine done when I was eighteen - just give yourself some time to make sure you definitely want it and are willing to take care of it - it takes 6 months to heal.Would you advice a 16-year old girl to do a bellybutton ring?
I don't know. I'm not sure I'd advise it but I wouldn't advise against it. There are other things I'd advise against, though.

if they're little ferrel 16yr olds then no - they get infected really easily and if you dont maintain them...
