she is off the bottle and formula but i cant get her to drink much whole milk...does anyone have any advice for this?My little girl is 12 months old and wont drink whole milk like she she should? any advice?
Try other things that have fat. Yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese. You could try other alternatives to cow's milk-goats milk or soy milk. If she doesn't like cow's milk don't force it on her. She can get her fat intake from other dairy sources. My little girl is 12 months old and wont drink whole milk like she she should? any advice?
You can mix the formula and milk together until she is ready to drink the whole milk only. Everyday just lessen the amount of formula and give her more milk.
make sure she gets lots of other dairy products. its not necessarily the milk she needs but the fat and calcuim. You can get them from cheese, yoghurts %26amp; butter etc. Just keep trying, maybe add some milkshake flavouring and she if she likes it
Have you tried to give her the next step up in formula? They do sell Similac 2 Advance (if that is the type you use). It is specially formulated for older babies and toddlers. I don't know if that will help or not. I did not have this problem as I would give my son 1/2 milk 1/2 formula bottles when he was over 9 months old.
You could always try goats milk, soy milk or something in place of it - she needs the fat content, so don't choose anything lowfat. My daughter was allergic to cow's milk and soy and she did fantastic with goat's milk. It's very healthy.
try cheese, yogart, pudding, cottage cheese etc. there are many dairy products to try. i know many will prolly yell at the thought by have you tried ovaltine (chocolate milk with added vitamins and minerals) or strawberry milk. just a drop will do ya, it changes the flavor. they also make childrens nutritional shakes/drinks that you can get.
my daughter didnt take to it at first either but i would use mostly similac then a lil bit of whole milk %26amp; each time id add more whole milk. goodluck
Hi Jennifer! I'm a Jennifer also.. and my 12 month old little girl won't drink whole milk either!!! I've tried mixing it with her formula and then slowly subtracting the formula.. but now she doesn't want formula either! She is off the bottle also and I've tried putting flavoring in the whole milk (like strawberry or chocolate syrup) and she STILL won't drink it! My daughter LOVES yogurt and Jello pudding. So I've been buying those that have 25% less sugar.. at least she's getting calcium that way! Good luck to you and hopefully we can figure out something for our little girls!!
give her other items such as flavored soy milk, yogurt, pudding, cheeses and other dairy items to take the place of the milk. My daughter also refused to drink milk when we switched her from formula. I think she associated the bottle with milk so, I stopped putting it into a bottle and instead put it in a sippy cup. We also go small single serving containers that she could drink from.
