Any advice for a 16 year old girl getting her first pelvic?

Anything to help her relax while scary people shove cold metal objects into their reproductive organs?Any advice for a 16 year old girl getting her first pelvic?
It is never a really pleasant experience but if you just resign yourself to the fact that it is a normal and necessarry part of being a woman then it ends up being over a lot faster then if you dwell on the negatives.

Do whatever feels Right to you... Hell, bring a teddy bear if you want too... Anything to make you feel better about the situation...

Feel better with a woman doctor?

Feel better with a male doctor?

Ask...

They are more then willing to help you feel as at ease as humanly possible...

Also, don't hesitate to ask them to explain EVERYTHING to you before hand...

It is your first time so they will be really paitent with you and should take all the time you need to understand what each thing does and why they are doing it.

Afterwards, go home and take a shower because that goop they use is really hard to get off. Bring a pair of ';Nasty Panties'; with you for the ride home. I show up in a nice pair so I feel good about dropping-trow in front of a 'stranger' and then throw on the 'period panties' before getting dressed so I don't need to wash the nice pair twice to get the goop out.

I have no idea what the hell that stuff is but it is NOT a nice, water based lubricant!

I'm tempted to bring my own bottle one day and say ';Here! Just use this! I KNOW this stuff comes out of cloth!';

LOL!

Don't worry! WE ALLLLLLL need to go through this!

OH! And while your there... demand the HPV Vaccine if you haven't gotten it yet.

If you can't afford it then have them contact the manufacturer because you can get it for free if your family's income qualifies.

I got my series for free! I was the first one at my clinic to be approved!

PLEASE get the shots... One less woman to contract HPV and end up with cervical cancer!!!

Good luck girl!Any advice for a 16 year old girl getting her first pelvic?
Just think of all the other women who have survived getting cold metal objects shoved into their reproductive organs before you.

Then, go to your happy place. Mine has a lake and a tree swing.
You may feel uncomfortable, but it only lasts for about two minutes. And to the gyno -- he/she won't even care -- just another day at the office.
It's not as bad as it seems....tell her the process....Tell her this what has to be done..to make sure she's ok...and the good thing about it is that it only has to be done once a year! Tell her it's quick and painless...it only takes about 5 mins. and she will feel the so called ';pressure'; that they talk about. and explain to her there is no reason to be nervous..the doctor see hundreds of vagina's a day....hers is no different!!

Hope everything goes ok

Best Of Luck
it honestly isn't that bad. it just feels cold but it doesn't hurt at all. it just feels like a cold tampon in there. you'll be fine. usually they tell you exactly what they are going to do before they do it. it might help to bring your ipod and listen to music during the exam to keep your mind off of it if you dont want to know what the dr is doing.
I had it. Just close your eyes and picture a guy touching you there.
